Here is a nugget of wisdom from a devotional book entitled God at Eventide. It is a companion volume to God Calling. There are messages from the Lord for each day of the year in both books. I have read these year after year and highly recommend them. This is from last night, Oct. 21: The only way to eradicate evil is to absorb good....To pray that you may resist temptation and conquer evil is in itself but useless. Evil cannot live in My presence. Live with Me. Absorb My life, and evil will remain without. For Catholics who can do so, I would say daily Mass is the ideal way to accomplish this. Intimate union with our Eucharistic Lord at the reception of Holy Communion during the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass is the epitomy of living in His presence. The union of our life with His doesnt get any closer than that. We must be in the state of grace, of course, and be mindful of the great gift we receive.
