Here is a typical story of what can happen once one makes a conscious decision to live an empower it forward lifestyle - it can be as simple as making a shift in focus - a very rewarding inside job indeed... By Brian Kelly An impromptu giving story. One small act, can create many ripples heart emoticon On our walk home today from the cafe in Bali, where we had our One Network supporters call, there was a street vendor selling little tofu salad plates with beans and chips. They looked delicious, so I stopped and bought one. As I was standing there eating it, across the street was a crew of Balinisian workers building/painting this amazingly beautiful full size horse out of what looked like paper mache. It was incredible. As I stood there admiring it, I could see a few of them were looking back at me eating my meal and smiling in gratitude for my interest in their art. In that moment, I had the thought, all that work, they must be hungry. So, I ordered two more plates (just the equivalent of a couple bucks). The vendor looked a bit confused when I pointed to the workers across the street. I think he got it, but perhaps wondered why I would offer such a gesture. I was a foreigner in their country, so why would I extend such a gesture? I could feel him thinking behind what seemed to be a smile of respect and appreciation, despite the clear signs of bewilderment. As they were being prepared, realized I had a big bottle of water in my backpack. When I walked over and put the plates and the bottle of water on the bench where they were sitting. Only one guy was working at the time. One of them said, for me? I responded, for all of you...to share (they were pretty big). Just my way of saying thank you for your beautiful art. You must be hungry & thirsty after all this work. After a short pause and similar looks of confusion, that quickly turned into huge beaming smiles of gratitude and loud shouts of thank you bro! welcome to Bali! I walked away on Cloud 9. Im not sure a westerner had ever offered such a gesture. One simple act, that cost me just a few bucks. The mutual feeling of Empowerment was priceless.
