Here is a video of the amp meter on the main power input (for the sound system) at Ice Palace with Richie Hawtin in Miami this past weekend. This is for a system that is pounding and will physically wear you out by the vibrations. We were on a 350A generator-it did not even know we were hooked up------ At one point the guy from the company that provided the genie came up to me and said something was wrong. So he measured at our distro input with a digital meter-and i brought out the analog meter and they were agreeing. He said that normally in this room sound companies were pulling a lot more current to get the SPL levels that we were getting. We had 185,000 watts for the PA in this case. However some of the fills were not on (due to the request of Richie Hawtin who refuses to use multipoint sound systems)-so subtract 45,000 watts (give or take) for the fills ( a single J1-94 on each of 2 rear fills-facing the main stage for surround or club feel. It REALLY helps to have highly efficient speakers and amps (and a sound system that does not interfere with itself) :)
