Here is my race report from yesterday! I am just amazed at all - TopicsExpress

Here is my race report from yesterday! I am just amazed at all the incredible people out there and do this stuff! Yesterday was my first Olympic Distance in 15 years. I have not been running much and really started to think about tri training kick-off July 1st. Olympic Distance is .93 mile swim, 24.8 ride and 6.2 mile run. My goals were simple: finish the swim in 30 minutes, the ride in 1:30 and run in under an hour. Goal with transition to finish under 3 hours and not be hurt. Swim was fine, water was calm until there are 200 people all splashing around. Swim time was 26.49. this was my first time using 910 and I mess up from the beginning and hit stop instead of lap leaving transition. So i got nothing on the bike...and the time folks did not record my bike either. My best guess is 1:25...who knows...I didnt fall off the bike, the wind was calm...BUT there were a lot and I mean a lot hills (for me). I got passed a lot too. Lots of fast bike as Rick Greif says its all about the bike. So, I need to ride more and get a new bike - hint - and ride more hills! run was hot and hilly - thank you Alex Clark for warning me to stay conservative. Run time was 53:27. Passed a few on the run! That felt good since I have not been running much. Im a beginner at this stuff and I was tired at the end of the day! Over all time was 2:48 for 11th overall. i love the simplicity of running and not thinking about much so I tried not to think about this much. Really didnt know much about the course or the distance. I knew I had to run 10K at the end! HA! Should have known there were a few hills over there! The race director did a good job for a first year event. Dink and I helped him some on Saturday. But here are some people that really impressed me: Steve Rice (65 years old - 2:39), Rick Greif (61 years old 2:38) yes they both beat me! Victoria Dutton from our TRI 201 group 4th overall - 2:35 - smokin fast! Some other folks that just amaze me for their abilities and attitudes Jan Guthrie Mathy, Jennifer Stadler Bell, Melissa Smith Johnson! Always fun are Karen Paulukaitis and Donna Comer. And thanks to the coaches and other cheerleaders out there Heather Haney, Paul Erickson, Tonya Meier Hardy, Caneilia Christina Patterson, Tom Gale. David G. Rawlings is always fun to be aroudn too! I could go on and on! I loved the few times I was able to ride with Tracy Glenn Bagwell, Tom Longino (missed you), Mary Crow Bagwell, Donna Hutson Ruiz. It was a fun hard day! And congratulations to Dink Taylor for his race! Got lots to learn!
