Here is one thing about Christmas that just annoys the heck out of me! (This is not aimed at anyone in particular btw, even if you think its you!) Its the question What do you want me to get you for Christmas? (or any other variation of the same question.) You know what I want for Christmas ... I want people not to feel obligated to buy me something because of a date on a calendar or social convention. Dont get me wrong ... I love to get presents as much as the next person, but not like this. If you see something you think Id like and its within your means, sure, pick it up and deliver it to me with a bow. It will be appreciated. But if you dont find that item in the stores, get creative. Bake me some brownies. Print out your favorite recipes and package them in a pretty binder. Find some old pics of us and make a video or a scrap page. Send me a funny online card. Offer to take my kids somewhere fun for the day. Donate a volunteer day to my business. Make a charitable donation in my name. The best gift at this time of year or any other time, to me, is the gift of thoughtfulness. And you dont need a date on a calendar for that.
