Here is the 1st Pastors email for 2015... Enjoy Happy New Year and may God bless you and your family. I pray that this year is the most fruitful year that you have ever had in your life; that God will give you the most incredible boldness to share the Gospel, that He will guide you through every tough time and every great time that you will face in 2015. As I was having my ‘soul time’ today, which is what I call my intimate time with Jesus, I found myself kneeling at the cross on the stage and praying. As I prayed, my words started saying “at the cross I…” and it got me thinking about the cross that Jesus died on and how our lives have been changed by what Jesus did on it. I found myself visualizing Jesus on the cross, carrying what I was praying here, on this day in 2015. Sometimes, as we think about what Jesus did on the cross, we fail to see the significance of it in our lives today. What I read the other day sums up what Jesus did for us really well: “If the message of the gospel you have heard is not better than you have imagined, then it’s probably not the truth. Oh its incredible! My rags for His riches! My sorrow for His joy! My sin for His righteousness! My weakness for His strength! My fear for His love! My death for His life! My mind for His mind! My failure for His success! My shame for His approval! My F- for His A+!!!!!! Jesus did it all and handed it to me as He walked out of the grave after crushing my darkness and making me like him in this life!” How might embracing this in all of the areas of our lives impact our own life and change us? How might our prayer life change, or even the type of prayers we pray? My encouragement for you is to pray bold prayers, because we serve a bold and incredible God. A practical thing you could do is to write down three prayers that you would love to see answered this year (God’s timing is always right though, please remember that). Not prayers that you could answer on your own, but prayers that only God could make happen; without Him there would be no other way. Pray with what Jesus did on the cross in mind. Last week we heard about Peter Rogers, who is one of the Elders of Liberty. About his life, how he overcame challenges and how God has been with him through his life. This week for part 2 of ‘This is Your Life’, I will be interviewing another one of the people in our church. Come along and find out who that is, and how God has helped them. May it inspire you! This Sunday after the service we will be having a BBQ which will be our first fundraiser for the Liberty Camp 2015 so please stick around and have a sausage for $2, a Choc Top for $2.50 and a drink for $2. Coming up on February 1st is Vision Sunday (With a fellowship lunch to follow), and then the following week is Giving Sunday. Put these dates in your diaries, as what will be shared will involve you being part of it. Are you new to Liberty? Then we invite you to a Welcome to Liberty lunch at our house 16 Benton Road Healesville straight after the morning service. Come and meet the Liberty Core Team and learn more about Liberty. All food and drinks provided. Please RSVP ASAP so your needs are catered for. God is going to do great things this year and I can’t wait to see how it will all unfold. If you know someone looking to be part of a faith community but not yet part of one, why not invite them and bring them with you one week? I encourage you to make it a priority to pray with us at 8.30am each week before the 10am service. It is such a life giving time. Have an incredible day. God’s richest blessings and peace Neil Milton E. [email protected]
