Here is the email for the chief of police.... And a copy of the email I just sent.... [email protected] To My Chief of Police, I am writing you on behalf of Officer Jason Koerner. As I am sure you are aware, recently, a photograph of Officer Koerner taken a year ago by one of his friends was anonymously sent to WSMV news station. This image, while taken in jest, was represented in this media account as “an officer abusing his authority”. As a citizen, I can understand how this is something that would catch your attention, and I do appreciate your need to take some sort of action. My reason for this email is to attempt to put this into context. Yes, as the story was represented, it isn’t an image that Metro Police department would want to put forward. But I can assure you, in the years that i’ve known Officer Koerner, I can promise you that you don’t have any finer officers under your command. Officer Koerner is not only a decorated veteran, but he is a proud and faithful Metro Police Officer. He is known by all as a fair and capable officer. His demeanor while on the job is of the highest and he loves serving the Nashville community. I do hope you are able to find a way for Officer Koerner to continue serving our citizens. Losing him would be a significant blow to Nashville. I realize that his judgement for that split second that a friend took a photo of him kidding around may have been lacking, but in all other areas, he is an upstanding officer and a credit to your force. The media has not always been kind to public servants, and this is a prime example. I hope you are able to see the value Officer Koerner brings to your department and keep him employed in the job that he lives and breathes every day.
