Here is the footage of the Mickey statue and the tug boat that is at the bottom of the snorkeling lagoon at Disneys Castaway Cay private island. About 13 years ago I took my children to this island as part of a Disney Cruise. When my Son, Christian, was in the hospital fighting Leukemia, his memory of that trip were one of his happy places he thought about when he was enduring a painful procedure. After his death, I took his sister on another Disney Cruise along with some of Christians ashes. I found the Mickey statue and I released his ashes at its base so that he would always be in a place he loved. This past weekend, I again visited the island and made my way out to the statue while wearing one of Christians pirate Mickey hats that he used to cover up the fact that he had lost his hair to his cancer treatments. I placed the ears on the statue and gently kissed the head of Mickey as a way of giving my Son one more Loving Kiss that things will be OK. Thankfully the sea is salty as the waters in the lagoon got a little saltier that day.
