Here is the list of the Kenmore in Bloom 2013 Gardens of Distinction! Zone 1: 338 West Hazeltine The front garden at 338 West Hazeltine is a lovely addition to the house and to the street. There is an amazing variety of annuals and shrubs to enhance this front garden. One can see effort, balance, and color which makes this front yard a truly beautiful picture. Zone 2: 317 Westgate The corner property at 317 Westgate is a garden of delight that sets a high standard for Kenmore in Bloom. With a constantly changing and colorful array of blooms visible from the street on the front, back, and side yards, the owner has created a cottage garden around her cozy home that would make a perfect subject for a Thomas Kincaid painting! The owner has obviously put much thought into her choice of plantings including height and spread, bloom time, and color palette; moreover, the owner has tastefully incorporated the garden theme on the décor of her front porch, side entrance, and backyard seating area. She meticulously tends through each season so that the effect is lush and healthy but never overgrown. From the burst of the first Spring bulbs, followed by the showy blossoms of peonies and floribunda roses, the Fall shades of mums, and even the frosty branches and stocks of winter, this is a garden for all seasons! Zone 3: 1483 Kenmore Ave This beautiful arts and crafts style home on bustling Kenmore Avenue boasts an extensive garden that is at once colorful, diverse, and peaceful. Many mixed pots of annuals adorn the front porch and steps and about every type of annual & perennial imaginable are visible in the garden beds. Also incorporated are antiques and other ‘found’ items as well as a variety of well established shrubs and trees. The dedication of the homeowners is apparent as this is clearly a labor of love. Zone 4: 82 Wabash This garden is a Garden of Distinction for its wide array of foliage as well as its whimsical use of garden accents. There are multiple groupings of varying complementary flowers and greenery, each is adorned with fun, playful, and statues and decorations. The picturesque scene created by this garden is ideal. Many thanks to the gardeners for cultivating such a beautiful space to be shared with the rest of the Village. Zone 5: 156 Kinsey This garden boasts a very creative and unique array of container gardens. The gardener has adorned both the lower and upper front porches with colorful annuals in gorgeous pots and hanging baskets. The plants are placed on every step leading up to the porch and cascade around the front steps. There are many interesting specimens of annuals and perennials represented in this lovingly cared for collection. This homeowner has shown a wonderful expression of creativity in their gardening, a beautiful example of the growing trend of container gardening. Very nice job! Zone 6: 215 Parkwood A cozy corner home completely arrayed in beautiful blooming bushes and flowers including roses, lilies, and impatiens –this is a delightful feast of color! It is complemented by a flagstone path and a few garden whimsies. It is a pleasure to behold! Zone 7: 284 Warren This garden offers a special place for birds to nest. A wonderful eye opening array of perennials greets you at the curb side as you walk to find a bird swimming in the mosaic bird bath, a tree holds a special bird house for he and friends to visit. Lilies exploding in colors of orange and pink as you walk through the lovely Russian Sage. A welcoming seating area awaits you for a private escape to visit and take in all the scents and beautiful sights this garden offers. Some sculptures offer a whimsical effect as well as making it a truly magical escape. Zone 8: 89 McKinley This lovely home with chairs on the porch where the owners are able to look at their colorful front flowers. The garden bed has a mixture of annuals with perennials. There is a lovely old wicker baby buggy with gorgeous plants in it included in this charming garden scene. A stone pathway leads directly to a beautiful water feature. Zone 9: 64 Stillwell From the lovely window boxes crafted from picket fence pieces to the purple vines on the wooden fence, this garden is a delight to the eyes. When you spot this garden you see a beautifully balanced assortment of flowers, ornamental grasses, and many varieties of hostas, hydrangeas, and lilies covering most of the front lawn area. A wonderful sight in our Village! Zone 10: 83 Columbia The entire front yard area of this house is filled with blooming flowers, shrubs, and decorative influence that create a beautiful garden scene. Clearly the owners have worked hard and are devoted to this very pleasing garden! Zone 11: 715 Colvin The use of wrought iron in the corners of this garden with vivid climbing perennials give a beautifully dramatic impression upon entering this stunning front yard. Island gardens add a layer of color and a nice visual depth to the front yard. Color in staggered heights is carried all the way to the street with vibrant reds, oranges and yellows dominating the scene with added complementary splashes of violet and white. The detail of this garden, each plant clearly carefully chosen, certainly causes traffic to temporary slow down on Colvin! Zone 12: 389 Stillwell This garden catches your eye from a distance! The enormous white hydrangea is spectacular; it is balanced by an equally balanced grouping of tiger lilies. In between these are red roses, red geraniums, and dusty millers. A maple in the center of the yard is surrounded by Shasta daisies, black eyed susan, and purple coneflower. This well tended garden makes the brick and wood Tudor style home welcoming and lovely!
