Here is the story behind my announcement of something coming in 2015 PHOTO CONTEST! From: KTKN-am-930 KGTW-fm-106.7 The Ketchikan Radio Center To: Ketchikan Amateur Photography Society The Ketchikan Radio Center is producing a 2017 calendar! The calendar will be produced using photos from those submitted during the promotional contest. The contest is open only to members of the Ketchikan Amateur Photography Society. So join the group, and join the fun. In order to have enough time to receive the photos, operate the contest, and to design and print the calendar, we have decided to create the calendar for 2017. The calendars will be available for sale beginning in 2016 – ready for Christmas gifts and in preparation for the tourist season. Members of KAPS wishing to have their photos entered into the monthly contest must submit their image to our “Drop Box” by the end of each month. Photos must follow the monthly theme as outlined below. One photo will be chosen each month as the winner for that month of the calendar. The top five photos for each month will be printed and displayed at one of the event sponsors’ place of business. At the completion of the contest, Ketchikan Radio Center will have the calendar printed and available for sale. All monthly winners will receive a free calendar, and will be entered in the final contest for “Best Photo of 2015.” The winner of the “Best Photo” award will receive – in addition to the calendar – their photo printed and framed in 16” x 20” format. “Best Photo” winner will be judged by the public at a showing of all 60 photos. All photos submitted each month will be judged by the staff at the Ketchikan Radio Center. Photos submitted may be displayed and/or used in Ketchikan Radio Center promotions for the contest. Submitting a photo constitutes a limited release of rights. Monthly Themes You may substitute any Ketchikan event or seasonal flavor, as identified below, for any month in which the event occurs. Submit under the title of Month “Ketchikan Theme.” For example: “August Ketchikan theme loggers show.” This cultivates your creativity should you not have a photo that fits the holiday of a particular month, but still wish to submit a photo. January: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day. February: Valentine’s Day, Ground Hog Day. March: St. Patrick’s Day. April: Easter, April fool’s Day. May: Mother’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Memorial Day. June: Father’s Day. Derby days July: Independence Day. August: Photographers favorite photo Day. September: Labor Day, Native American Day. Alaska Native themes October: Halloween. November: Thanksgiving Day, Veterans Day. December: Christmas Day. Limited Release This limited release is for the following permissions, but does not include the sale of single images. The sale of the images is only permitted collectively of all winning images in a single unit being used as a Calendar. Any additional sale would require written permission from each photographer of said image. Submitting images constitutes agreement of these terms, as well as serving as an affidavit that the submitting party is the photographer and copyright holder of said submitted image(s). Printing of the Calendar Sale of the collective images in the Calendar Display of the images both digitally and in printed media Use of the images in promotions, advertisements and marketing Printing and or framing of winning images This is the email address you must use to submit your photos. photos@abcstations All photos must be pre-sized 8x10 at 200dpi. You may watermark your image; but please do so in either black or white, whichever is contrasting, and place it in the lower left or right corner of the image. We want large files, so don’t worry if it is a bit big in bytes. Contact the KAPS Moderator Kurtis R. Morin in the Facebook group page for questions or assistance. So get out and shoot, the email address is being setup so you can start sending your entries by tomorrow afternoon. REMEMBER email your photos; do not post them in KAPS if they get posted before judging anywhere but at the sponsors they are disqualified. I hope everyone participates, this is going to be fun.
