Here is what I sent to the Speaker of the House, the Majority Whip, and Representative McClintock this evening: Sir, you and your fellow Republicans are going to drive the country into the ground and cause undue and unnecessary hardship for those of us who work for the Federal government by holding the budget hostage and not dealing with the debt ceiling due to your disagreement with the health care legislation. I vote and I will be reminding my Congressional representatives of that fact again, however, as the Speaker of the House, I implore you not to lead our country further into economic turmoil by not ensuring that your and your peers on the Hill pass the budget and deal with the debt ceiling in a proper and responsible manner. Once you get the financial house set back afloat, then deal with the health care legislation appropriately - as its own issue. Without even a Continuing Resolution in place, things like the FEMA and other Federal aid to the flooded folks in the fair State of Colorado will need to cease, beyond the fact that demobilizing construction contractors and shutting down other types of projects will cost the nation more in the long run not only in terms of money, but in the cases of flood damage reduction projects going on throughout the country, in lives as well. You really want that on your docket, sir? Really?
