Here is what is know about what happened with the two missing Tervs in Washington (now found as you read below). The Owner had just gone to assisted living due to dementia issues and this is what transpired: A guardian of the owner agreed to take the dogs until a decision could be made as to their care....he then went out of town. The person who had been taking care of the dogs thought the guardian had them and that his responsibilities were over. The estate sale people put the dogs into a bathroom in the home on Tuesday and then forgot they were there and left. The guardian went to pick up the dogs on Friday and as they were not in their kennel, assumed they had been taken. The police, neighbors, previous care givers, and Terv rescue were contacted...no one had a clue. The daughter who lives on the East Coast was frantic and finally got someone to go over and check the house yesterday and the dogs were found, hungry but at least they had water and were inside away from the heat. The guardian took the dogs to his house where they will remain until Thursday when they will come to stay at my house until a decision will be made on what will become of them. ......raw food, acres of yard to run in, more Tervs....they should enjoy their visit. The family is trying to find a care situation for the owner where her dogs can remain with her but this does not seem to be an easy thing to do. I think this might serve as a reminder to all of us that we need to have a plan in place for our dogs in the event we cannot care for them for whatever reason, not just death. I know we think it could never happen to us but compost does happen and usually when you least expect it. It is really scary how this tale might have ended.....I am just so glad they are safe!!!
