Here you go Rita Fox. I havent played this in 15 years and it made me cry now. One of the smartest people I ever met was a dear friend, Dave Wheeler. Dave was adopted and got busted in Lubbock in the late 60s. The judge made him a deal, join the military or go to jail. He joined the Navy and spent the Vietnam War working on the motors aboard an ocean going tug sailing back and forth between California and Hawaii. He found out my dad served topside in the Navy during the Korean War and told me to call him a Deck Ape. My dad told me to call him a Smile and they both got a kick out of it. He was damn near a chess master. He got me interested in physics. Ever notice how the ac kicks on when you get up to pee at night. Soap just makes water wetter. It simply breaks the surface tension of water so it spreads out more. He was a not a junkie but someone who shot up heroine on a regular basis (run a program, as he put it) and held a good job. One Thanksgiving me and Mary had just pulled up and were unloading food at her moms house when I realized I had messages. A womans voice said I dont know who this is but this was the last number on his pager, somethings wrong with Dave, you got to get over here! Message 2 Dave wont get up, hes turning blue! Please come over here and help us! Message 3 Were at Providence Emergency room, Daves dead... Dave had gone to the Mesa Inn to shoot up with some friends and overdosed. I still have a brass cleat he gave me and I use it every day with my keys, and a large Buck knife he gave to Kent Emmitt Brooks that Kent gave to me. Peace, Dave. The Needle and the Damage Done
