Heres a blog of the first week in Canada, of our Surprise Surprise - TopicsExpress

Heres a blog of the first week in Canada, of our Surprise Surprise ITV holiday. From the moment I heard the happiest bloke on the flight attendant ask “Would you like some tea?” with his Canadian twang, it felt awesome to be coming back to my love of Canada. It continued with the smiles of the guys at Tim Hortons (yup, I had to take Kev for his first ever Tim Hourton experience!) in Vancouver airport, I’d missed their chilli big time! We passed out, jet-lagged, through the bus ride up to Whistler and awoke to see piles of snow on the road side. A brief wander through the village with snow falling, it felt like Christmas. We were welcomed by Chantal, Courtney, Alex, Emilie and Vicky (who all really looked after us throughout the whole stay!) at the amazing Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel. Our room felt far too swanky for us, but I was sure we’d get used to it. Instead of getting a much needed night’s sleep, we decided to head out to the Brewhouse and proceeded to sink some lethal black jugs, before dancing the night away in Garfinkels (partying like it was 1969!).. Hungover and excited, we collected our big clumpy ski gear and Mark drove us (and sang to us!) to the foot of the mountain. Our tickets were not there, but in true Canadian style, we were given two $10 food vouchers to use while they went and found them. Our first time skiing on the Whistler Blackcomb Mountains was hilarious, when we werent on our asses covered in snow, we looked like two stiffy pizzas ambling down the slope. Jumping in the hot-tub with a couple of White Russians at the end of a hard day’s skiing felt like pure heaven. We didn’t improve much over the four days, but that didn’t stop us going all the way to the top of the mountain and “skiing” all the way down. When a guy saw our ability at the top he just said “You shouldn’t be up here, man”. It was truly an amazing experience, the mountain views were absolutely stunning (and MASSIVELY petrifying at the same time!). The adrenaline continued on day 5 as we went snowmobiling with Canadian Wilderness Adventures in Callaghan Valley - these things are serious machines! One little push of the thumb and you’re flying up a steep snowy incline, bouncing around and screaming. After 45 minutes of twists and turns, our guide showed us to a wide open area of fresh snow and just said “Go have some fun, guys.” Within 2 minutes, I had flipped my snowmobile onto it’s side while Kev hysterically laughing (see photo!) - but its ok because he got his comeuppance when he went head first into a huge wall of snow in a covered creek - and was stuck for 20 minutes. It’s lucky snow is soft! The pace seriously picked up on the descent, so much so that my iPhone fell out of my pocket, never to be seen again. Tons of holiday pictures gone. Ouch, I know. BUT kind of worth the experience. I’ve said before, I’m not one for holidays, but this trip is starting to make me feel a little bit different. Its just phenomenal to be back in Canada with my cousin, Kev! (I hope the next 5 days in Vancouver are as fun and exciting as our time in Whistler!) All this courtesy of Canadian Affair. Nice.
