Heres a great marketing opportunity for equestrian businesses out there- check it out: Who here has a blog? Who wants to get more people reading their blog and therefore seeing (and potentially purchasing!) all the goodies you’re offering on your website? Who is prepared to put in a little hard work to get some more readers and customers? I am keen on hosting a ‘12 Days of Christmas in the Saddle’ blog hop/tour so I need 11 other horse businesses with a blog who would be keen to write a brief article and give away a small Christmas gift to one reader. What you need: - A Facebook page - A blog - An idea for any kind of article that could encourage people to keep riding in December – seriously the scope is huge, eg. How to put up a light so you can ride at night, what to wear to stay sunsafe when riding in Summer, how to prioritise riding in the silly season, how to cool down your horse safely after a ride, fun places to ride and cool down in hot weather etc! (if you’re not a natural writer, I’m even offering to help you write it if you provide some bullet points) - A product you can give away to anyone in Australia (value must be over $20 and you’ll need to provide postage in addition to this). What you need to do: - write your blog post and publish it on an agreed day - add to the bottom a paragraph that includes what the blog hop is about, who is participating and how readers can win a prize. I’ll write this up but something like: “If you want more ideas and great giveaways to help you have fun with your horse over Christmas, hope over to these amazing blogs: {insert list of blogs with no-follow link and date to visit} To enter to win {insert your prize here} tell me your best tip for riding in December by commenting on this post by midnight on 12 December 2014. Ill pick a winner on October 26th. {NB They need to answer a question so this is a game of skill. If its a random draw you need permits!} - Like all the participating businesses on Facebook as your business page - Promote the 12 Days of Christmas in the Saddle blog hop on your Facebook business page. Each day you will need to post about the day’s giveaway and tag the participating business’ Facebook page. E.g. On the 7th day of Christmas, Confident Rider gave to me…some great inspiration on riding in the heat and the chance to win a lovely sun-safe tee”. What I will do to make this work: - Coordinate it and support you through trying a new idea - Post about it every day on the Confident Rider blog – this month I had over 4000 unique visitors. - Create a little ’12 Days of Christmas in the Saddle’ graphic you can use on your Facebook posts. What you can’t do: - You can’t ask your followers to like any of the participating Facebook pages, or tell people to like and share etc. We must play by Facebook rules! The goal isn’t to get more Facebook followers (although this is likely to happen organically anyway), the goal is to get people to read your blog, leave a comment and spend time on your website. Why participate: - Traffic to your website and good quality links help with your rankings on search engines; - Good quality content (eg your article) helps with SEO, again, helping people find you on search engines like Google - To encourage a culture of collaboration in the equestrian community - To help people enjoy their horses Did you get through this whole post?! If you’re keen, comment here or email me [email protected]. It sounds like hard work, but I’ll help you through it.
