And when this message* arrived in our inbox the other day, we couldnt help but take the messages about intellectual ability, cognition and learning and, considering our work with The 60 Minute Kids Club, query: Arent we all also born to move? Isnt it the case that, given the opportunities and support, we all can be fit for life? We sure as heck are and sure as heck can. So #letsmove, and support those supporting our kids to do so. Hat tip to the Khan Academy for a nice little piece of messaging here, and a great big piece of work theyre doing to support that message. *Some people believe that intellectual ability is purely genetic or fixed. This is a myth. Research now shows that your brain is like a muscle; the more you apply it and struggle, the more it grows. People who learn to recognize this fact about their own brain develop a ‘growth mindset’ and are able to persevere and achieve more. At Khan we know abilities are not set in stone because we see people improving radically every day.
