Heres a pic of a lovely old girlfriend of mine, Alison Morgan. Ali is currently in the east pavilion of the Astley Ainslie hospital, in Edinburgh where she is being looked after following a fall at her home. Ali is a diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis sufferer (MS) and has been fighting the debilitating affects of the disease for several years. Prior to this she was a successful Edinburgh businesswoman, running a catering company and also managing the famous Old Chain Pier pub down Leith.. MS attacks the central nervous system. Nobody knows for sure what causes the disease and there is no known cure. Scotland has the highest incidence of MS in the world with over 10,000 known sufferers. Worldwide, 2.3 million people are known to have the disease. A nurse told me tonight that Ali would remain in hospital until alternative accommodation can be found. Alis old flat at Blackford, Morningside, has been deemed unsuitable for someone in her condition, the nurse said. Ali will be in hospital for the foreseeable future and any visits from old friends would really help keep her spirits up.. Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested.... I have so many happy memories of Ali and am finding this all so sad.. MS has to be one of the cruelest diseases, striking down so many bright, happy people, like Ali in their prime..
