Heres a post from Sachis founder responding to the threatening - TopicsExpress

Heres a post from Sachis founder responding to the threatening comments about a lost dog. EVERY good rescuer will see what shes throwing down: RAPHAELE WRITES: I wish everyone would just calm down about this. First off, none of you know what really happened here and all you have heard so far are the words of Nichole. So let me clarify a few things. First rescues are NOT in the business of making money, trust me there are plenty of pure bred boxers all over the shelters, day in day out, and we certainly are not in the business of stealing dogs for profit. I could even add what profit? but that probably would go right over most of you dimwits. Anyone who has had the privilege to be a part of animal rescue would know that. Second, I was called on January 4th by a frantic woman who had just found a boxer on the streets, no collar, no tags, no microchip and told me she couldnt keep him and wouldnt take him to the shelter. So we took him in, waited the legal 10 days required by law for rescues, all the while advertising him on our facebook page, website and pet adoption sites. We didnt keep him hidden from anyone legitimately trying to find him. After the 10 days legal period, we had him completely vetted, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. The total medical bill was $398.81. Add to this his boarding costs, as of today we have had him 21 days and you can do the math. Today was the first time I got a call from his owner, 21 days after her dog has been missing. When I called her back she was extremely rude and belligerent, I asked her why it took her so long to find her dog and why he was able to escape in the first place with no identification on him. She answered that he escaped from the yard where he apparently lives 24/7, and that due to personal issues she wasnt able to look for him until a few days ago. She then proceeded to threaten me, which doesnt bode well with me. I am more than willing to have a productive discussion but I will not tolerate accusations and threats, which by the way have been coming incessantly to my personal number since Nichole brilliantly put the information on her facebook page. After speaking with the police it is very clear that legally this is now our dog, and it is therefore up to me and my board members to decide of his fate. Now dont misunderstand me, I would like nothing more than to reunite this dog with his rightful owner as long as I know he will now be taken care of properly. One of our top requirements when we adopt our dogs is that the dog be kept indoors, especially at night, treated like a family member and well cared for. I can tell you that based on what Nichole said and what has transpired so far, she would not be approved as a potential adopter for one of our dogs. Nicole and I spoke again earlier tonight and the conversation was definitely more polite. As I explained to her, she should be grateful that her dog is safe and sound, not lying dead in a ditch somewhere, didnt end up at the SBC shelter where they would have held him for a maximum of 5 days and then he would either have been adopted privately, picked up by a rescue or euthanized. At any rate she wouldnt have any claims to him either. Nichole assured me that he would now be an indoor dog and I will have to trust her word on this. I also told her that I expect to be reimbursed for the expenses I incurred and she also agreed to that. Legally I could also ask her to honor the minimum donation we ask for upon placement but I am more than willing to forgo this. So please take that you imbeciles who think we are in it for the money! In the end I suggest you all stay out of this and let Nichole and I resolve the situation. The less people involved putting in their 2 cents, the better.
