Heres one of my favorite 80s CHRISTMAS films of all time. It rarely gets play today because of Tim Allens SANTA CLAUSE films. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time Santa Claus was presented as being part of a dynasty of successors rather than one person constantly through the centuries. This film also didnt begin as an Ernest movie and thats why it works so well. Douglas Seale as Santa Claus puts in a charming performance and his makeup suggests Edmund Gwenns MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET Kris Kringle.
