Heres our update for today: first things first, Aiden came for a visit! He brought his momma some flowers he picked from our yard. It was great but hard when he left. About Emilys liver: the liver drs met with the liver surgeons and theyre discussing removing the whole left lobe. Why? 1. Its dead and the left portal vein is completely blocked 2. Thats where the abscesses are located 3. They want the abscesses out and they cant safely get to all of them to drain them 4. They think her spleen would decrease in size when everything stops backing into the spleen ( spleen is 22cm by 10cm by 14 cm- she has no room). If her spleen decreases then it will function more properly and decreases the risk of rupturing 5. Her risk of liver cancer greatly decreases. Currently she receives scans every 6 months to look for growths or tumors on her liver. Soooo, were waiting for a decision. If they do any surgery they will first do another liver biopsy through her jugular to make sure the right lobe is okay. When she first got sick 70% of her liver was necropsy (dead) so they need to make sure how well the right lobe has regenerated. I trust shell be fine. Shes been through much worse. God is with us, and she is his sweet child that he delights in. A huge blessing is that she doesnt feel sick. This too shall pass.
