Heres what I think. What do you think? Labels are labels true - TopicsExpress

Heres what I think. What do you think? Labels are labels true enough. But, reality is real especially in this country. You may not consider yourself be what ever. But, the reality is, people see her as black, African-American, or what ever. Hell, her blackness landed her the job of her life, The Cosby Show. Lets face it, no matter what we say we are, people do still take race, and other information they see and the put each and every one of us in a category, like it or not. We are getting better at coming together and dealing with one another. But, fact is were not all the way there yet. Another thing that I find that a lot of black humans are quick to do is give up their blackness. It is almost like a badge of shame to have black skin, to have nappy hair, to have a thick body, to have full lips, (of late big lips are all the rage) and a big behind. They are so fast to say that our history doesnt matter while we live the history and culture that we have had forced on us for centuries. They are so quick to forget that we, just humans were whipped, castrated, hung, raped, stripped of our language, culture, turn from our families and made to work under all kinds of conditions for free, SLAVES. Oh how quickly the humans forget. How sad. Sure. That was a long time ago. But, to give up your people so easily and dicount the struggle by brushing your ancestors off you like dust is appalling. Our people have been through so much it is shameful to see people , not proud to be an American, but a shamed of being black, in my opinion. Its trully sad to see. Yes I see her point. But, it annoys me to see the propaganda being spread that it is ok to forget who you are. Its ok to forget where you came from. Its ok to, with a few well thought out phrases, throw your blackness right out the window. It is deeper than you think. It is deeper than you think. Nothing is in the media without a reason Regardless, I dig you and respect your opinion. But, be advised. There is more to that segment on Oprah.
