Heres what happened in Wednesdays Council Meeting: Council Highlights – May 7, 2014 • Council instructed Administration to bring back a report with recommendations to Council in regard to the proposals from Huxteds for changes to the Recycle Yard. • Town of Strathmore will demonstrate support for the 2015 Alberta 55+ Games by providing the following: $10,000.00 Cash Donation (to forgive initial loan) $12,500.00 Shuffle Board Equipment $10,000.00 Bocce Court Development at Lambert Center and the following in kind contributions: $45,000.00 Facility Donations (Civic Centre, Family Centre, Aquatic Centre) $1,000.00 Town Heritage Days Booth (One Day) $7,000.00 Staff Time (Community Services Coordinator) For a total contribution at this time of $85,000.00 • Council gave first, second, third and final reading to Bylaw #14-06 Municipal Reserve Bylaw. • Council gave first, second, third and final reading to Bylaw #14-09 Downtown Design Review Committee Bylaw Amendment Bylaw. • Council approved development permit appication 14D-027 as Discretionary Use subject to the conditions identified in the development permit. • Council instructed Administration to postpone the Lakeside Boulevard Capital Project to 2015 and tender the project in January 2015. -and- THAT the funds budgeted for the Lakeside Boulevard project be carried over to 2015. • Council appointed Mr. David Collins and Ms. Brenda Tibbet-Frayn to the Strathmore United Way Committee for a term of one (1) year. • Council proclaimed the Month of May as Communities in Bloom Month in Strathmore. • Council accepted the letter from Municipal Affairs regarding the Ministers Award for Excellence as information. • Council appointed Ms. Brandy Hebbs and Councillor Pat Fule to the Downtown Design Review Committee.
