Heres your morning update before you head out... Only a few changes this morning compared to yesterday. The severe threat is still there for all parts of Central Alabama with the best opportunity tonight along and south of a Hamilton to Alabaster to Union Springs line. The stronger storms should move into the southwest counties after 9 pm and spread northeast across the area overnight. Toward morning the best chances for severe shift generally east of Interstate 65 and south of Interstate 20. Our threats continue to be damaging straight-line winds, isolated tornadoes, and flooding with a low threat for hail. Anywhere from 2 to 4 inches is forecasted to be the storm total rainfall over the next couple of days. These are general estimates for the area and we could have locally higher amounts in some of the stronger storms. As for during the day today ahead of the severe threat a massive rain shield with embedded thunderstorms, (more thunderstorms across the southern half) will keep temperatures lower today with highs in the upper 50s to middle 60s. So dont leave home today without that umbrella! Allow extra time for travel. Since our best chance for severe weather will be during the overnight hours, make sure you have multiple means of receiving warnings and that they are all in working order now before the severe weather arrives. Stay safe folks.
