Here’s an idea for making our current system of financing - TopicsExpress

Here’s an idea for making our current system of financing campaigns from wealthy donors more efficient, while also redistributing income from the super rich to needier Americans, and at the same time increasing voter turnout: Instead of spending billions on campaigns, the Koch brothers and other super-wealthy donors would pay $25 to anyone who’ll give them their voting proxies. This way, the Kochs and the other billionaires directly buy the votes they’re seeking; their money is redistributed to poor and working-class Americans (wealthy and upper-middle class voters won’t find it worthwhile to sell their votes for $25); and the inducement brings out many voters who’d otherwise stay home on Election Day. It’s also efficient because it avoids the unnecessary spending on advertisements, campaign consultants, pollsters, and all the other paraphernalia of modern politics. A win-win-win-win. What do you think?
