Here’s my rant for the day – I just wrote a blog on customer service so I thought I would practice what I preach and post my poor customer service experience on Facebook. In May I called my home warranty company to get someone to come out and look at my dishwasher. The repairman, Rick from A Affordable Appliance Repair came out the next day and told us the motor was burned out and would need to be replaced. When we called to check on the parts he said he couldn’t get them. The warranty people said they would order the parts and would ship them to him. I got a follow up survey from the home warranty company a few weeks later so I let them know that we hadn’t heard from the repairman. They had shipped the parts out within a day or two. They called him and he said that he was out of town but would call us the next week to schedule the repair. This was around the 4th of July. I waited several days and finally called him back. He said he would call me back to schedule the repairs. I finally contacted AHS, the home warranty company, to complain. They called him and he set up the repairs for July 15 or 16th. When I didn’t hear from him on the 16th I called again. The warranty people contacted Rick and he told them I misunderstood and that he would be out on the 17th between 1 and 5pm. On the 17th at 5pm I called again. Again, I was told that he would try to be there by 6 but would definitely be there that evening. Rick was a No-Show. When I called at 6 the home warranty people called Rick and I was told to call him. I was given “another number” to call Rick. He didn’t answer the phone. At 7 am on Friday I called the warranty people again and was told they would call him again. By this time my side of the call was rather loud. I was told that they would have to contact him again and then would have to contact Contractor Relations to change contractors even though I was told the night before that I could request another contractor if I wanted one. At 3pm on Friday, Rick shows up at my house and gave every excuse he could possibly think of why he wasn’t there the night before. Something about his other technician having the parts and dropping them off on his front porch… blah blah blah. He did replace the motor but left his trash, put the dishwasher racks in backwards, and failed to put the dishwasher back together. When we called him he said he put the rack back like they were??I!!! And there were no screws for him to put the dishwasher back together. Huh??!!!??? Anyway, it’s been right at 2 months. I wouldn’t recommend Rick to repair anything. P.S. I googled the company so I could get the name correct for this post – it’s A Affordable Appliance Repair and this posting came up…. Guess I’m not the only one. “This gentleman came to our house for the initial visit during which he informed me that we needed a part that would need to be ordered in order to repair our dishwasher. When I asked how long we should expect since we were coming up on Thanksgiving in three days. He said it should take about a week for the part to arrive at which point he would call to set up a time to do the repair. After four weeks, during which he did not contact us, I called him to see what was going on with the status or our part. When I spoke with him he said that that part had not yet come in, and that hed contact the business from which he had ordered the part. A couple days later I received an email from the home warranty company which contracted our repair out to him. The email informed us that the part for our dishwasher had been ordered and was expected to take about a week. I waited another couple weeks and contacted him again, this time via text message since I had his cell number. We set up a time for him to come to our home (this is now January going on February). I rushed home from work (about 30 minutes away) and waited for him. He did not show up. I called and texted, but received no response. I called our home warranty people and they contacted him to schedule the repair. Again, a time was set and he did not show up. At this time I was pretty steamed. I called and called and texted, yet no response. I called the home warranty company again and requested a switch to another repair service. They said they couldnt do it and called him while I was on the line with him. At this point I really did not want him doing the repair with all the animosity which had built up. I felt and still feel that if he does the repair he will do something to mess things up even more. Anyhow, I relented and texted him asking to put all the bad experiences behind us and once again scheduled a day and time. Now understand this is now March....4 (four) months after we had been promised the repair would be done. Once again, he did not show up and has not responded to anything since that time. This gentleman is the worst representative for any service industry I have ever had the opportunity to deal with. He took our $75, promised us something we still have yet to see, and now refuses to return our money. Do not under any circumstances deal with A-Affordable Appliance Repair.”
