Here’s something positive and unexpected about love, marriage - TopicsExpress

Here’s something positive and unexpected about love, marriage and living happily ever after that occurred to me a few hours ago... TRUE or FALSE Half of all people in the U.S. who get married get divorced. FALSE MOST PEOPLE IN THE U.S. WHO GET MARRIED STAY MARRIED FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. “50% divorce rate” refers to marriages, not individuals. This 50% is comprised of far fewer than half of the people because it accounts for all multiple divorces. For example, for everyone who has been divorced three times, necessarily, there are three marriages that are going strong. This means that, for each PERSON who has had THREE divorces, necessarily, there are SIX PEOPLE who are still married. Think of all the people you know of you’ve been divorced three times. Of course, divorce does NOT always mean you failed. Life and marriage can get terribly complicated while you’re trying to build a career and raise a family. In fact, one of the best humans I know has been divorced twice. She didn’t cause either divorce. But, she did not recognize the subtle fatal character flaw in the other person. She was busy building a career, raising a beautiful lanky daughter and filling her walls with award plaques from the Chamber of Commerce, charities, political crap and the Association of Aggressive Scary women. So, she missed the signs. So, if you got married tomorrow, your chances of success, statically, are far greater than 50%. (Just do it...)
