Herkimer – George E. Walters, 69, of Herkimer passed away on Thursday September 26, 2013. He was born July 18, 1944 in Herkimer the son of the late Henry Walters, Sr. and Delia (Miller) Walters and attended Herkimer Central School. Mr. Walters was a United States Army Veteran, enlisting on October 12, 1961 and was honorably discharged on September 28, 1963 with the rank of Private First Class. At one time he was married to the former Marjorie Shafer. For over 30 years, George was employed at Remington Arms as a Gun Inspector, retiring in 2006. Survivors include his twin sons, Michael and John Walters both of Gloversville; two grandsons, Zachary M. Walters and John W. Walters; a stepson, Edward Cole of Johnstown, NY; a brother, Eric Iverson of Norway; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Betty Klock, Henry (Sonny) Walters, II, Sally Perkins, Terri Miner and Phyllis Trevor and a stepson, Gary Cole. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 329 South Washington St., Herkimer, NY 866-1500. Funeral services will be held on Monday September 30, 2013 at 1:00 pm from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home, 329 South Washington St., Herkimer, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday September 230, 2013 from 11:00 am until the time of the services. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date.
