Hernando Cortes was a Spanish Conquistador who led an expedition - TopicsExpress

Hernando Cortes was a Spanish Conquistador who led an expedition that caused the fall of the Aztec Empire and brought large portions of mainland Mexico under the rule of the King of Castile in the early 16th century. His wife was doña Juana Ramírez de Arellano. This was the reason why Don Alonzo de Arellano was in the expedition of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi from Nueva Espanya(Mexico) to the Philippines. Alonso de Arellano was Spanish Explorer of Century XVI, that sailed in the fleet that drew up to the first practical route for navigation to Philippine . In agreement with some sources, Arellano was first Spanish in descrying Archipelago of the Philippine islands, after separating of the rest of the fleet in Patache San Lucas, piloted by Lope Martin, shortly after leaving the port of Christmas . After discovering several islands in January of 1565, returned on its steps and went to Acapulco; it was therefore first in crossing what soon would be called; Route of Urdaneta , in honor to Andres de Urdaneta, another captain of the same fleet would cross that it shortly after. The superiority of letters and the documentation of Urdaneta assured the credit to him, in spite of the historical priority of Arellano. :-)
