Hestia She was the Olympian and virgin goddess of the hearth - TopicsExpress

Hestia She was the Olympian and virgin goddess of the hearth (private and municipal), the home, the family, the state and of ancient Greek architecture. As the goddess of the family hearth she presided over the cooking of bread and the preparation of the family meal. She was also the goddess of the sacrificial flame and received a share of every sacrifice to the gods. She is often depicted as a modestly veiled woman holding a flowered branch, maybe of a chaste tree. In classical sculpture she is veiled and has a kettle as her attribute. Her Roman name is Vesta. ~Alexandria
