Hey Art Neil throw the confetti. The Red Wings break the 7 game winless streak tonight at the “Joe”. The Wings knock off the Hurricanes 4-3. This night belonged to Gustav Nyquist as he scored 2goals. The first one came with the game only 17 seconds old. The Wings scored another less than 3 minutes into the 2nd period. Darren Helm (Jeff’s favorite player) scored to put the Wings up. The Hurricanes tied it up with 2 goals of their own in the 2nd period. A key point in the game came late in the 2nd period when the Canes had a 2 man advantage. The Wings killed it off and ended the period tied at 2. In the 3rd period the Wings had their own 2 man advantage and they were successful on the same as a goal credited to Zetterberg (however expect it to be changed to Kronwall) went in off a goal mouth scramble. A Cane actually inadvertently kicked it into his own net. Then with less than 5 minutes to play and the Canes pressing, Nyquist was able to get a break away on a pass from Zetterberg to put the Wings up by 2 again. Carolina scored with 15.9 seconds left to account for the final score. Nyquist was just recalled today to take DeKeyser’s spot on the roster. I think Nyquist can go apartment hunting. He is not going back down. He was also the 1st star of the game.
