Hey Everyone; Following is a brief recap and update regarding my hand. On June 19, while at camp meeting I was facilitating a bungee run for a group of primary kids. For the uninitiated a bungee run is a large inflatable game during which you put on a vest that has a large bungee cord attached to it and then you run away down a lane as far as you can go until the bungee stop you and pulls you back - sometimes head over heels. I was challenge to see how far I could run down the lane and of course took the challenge. I actually ran the lane as far as you could possible go and at that moment the bungee broke loose from its attachment point and catapulted me right over the heads of the kids about 15 feet after which I came crashing down and severely dislocated my right shoulder. Two hours later I my shoulder was back in place but in the process I damaged my radial nerve. The actual diagnosis is acute right radial neuropraxia. Unfortunately, this leaves me with a hand that is essentially non functional. I cannot raise the wrist, thumb or fingers of my right hand. After seeing several specialist the basic prognosis is that "it is likely to heal but may require three months before I will see event faint progress in the use of my hand and up to a year or more before full recovery." The hand specialist said that this is something that only God can heal. It is frustrating to think that it may be a year or more until my hand is functional but I am trusting that in all things God is and will work out His good and perfect will. Thanks to all of you who have been praying for me. It means a great deal to me. PS: I only wish someone would have recorded it on video! It would have made a great funniest home video episode!
