Hey Everyone, thanks for coming to my Goal Setting and Motivation page, check out a little info about it... Goal Setting Setting goals is an important tool for success and happiness. Achieving your goals helps you focus your time and resources efficiently, and keeps you motivated when you feel defeated. Identifying barriers and finding appropriate solutions helps you reach your goals, that translates to feelings of great achievement and pride for you and everyone involved, which in turn generates greater productivity in business, planned accomplishments in one’s personal life and that builds self esteem and confidence. Tips to keep in mind; 1. Dream your goal first. You should learn to visualize the result you are after. By visualizing your success with close attention to detail, you are actualizing yourself having accomplished your goal; this gets you half way there and then practice helps to take you the rest of the way. 2. Get it down A goal plan recorded on paper or in digital format represents a commitment. Action is what separates our goals from our dreams. Keep a copy of your goal plan in sight and refer to it often. The secret behind achieving your goal is how much self will you apply. This enduring effort of yours will develop into your own masterful technique. 3. One or Two will do It’s okay to set one or two goals if you honestly think you can push yourself, but planning too much can overwhelm you and cause you to give up altogether. Know your own strengths and weaknesses and plan honestly to stay within your resources and limits. 4. Identify the barriers When possible, try to examine your goal and work out the barriers in simple steps. This will allow you to identify the resourses required and give you a measure of the time line thus determining if it qualifies as a short, medium or long term goal. 5. Be flexible. Assess your progress periodically, work through your barriers by finding solutions, work at a steady pace and don’t think about giving up. Instead, be flexible and take a step back if the pressure is too much. Keep the success of your goal in mind. 6. Make sure you are in control of your goal. This means you must be able to achieve the goal as a result of your own hard work and determination, but don’t be afraid to ask the help of others that have the resources you actually need. However If you have no control over the outcome, it does not make it a personal achievement. Don’t put such important things in the complete hands of others. Accept help but remember you are the director of you own destiny. 7. No conflicting goals For example, If you are the boss in the work place it would not be realistic to strive for better friendships and more respect from your employees and then to cut their wages by 15 % a week later. Pay attention to how each goal ties in with the others and make sure they don’t contradict this will only cause conflict. 8. Will achieving your goal benefit others? Make sure that your completed goal will benefit others as this will help develop honesty and compassion in you, the appreciation by others will be acknowledged and they will return the favour back to you in similar ways. 9. Time Start by setting and achieving short term goals. This will be good practice to increase the size of your experience bag and build your confidence for medium and long term goals. Short term goals can range anywhere from now to one month. Medium term goals up to one year and long term goals through to the rest of your life if you so wished. But it is important to have a forecasted time line for all goals as this will keep you focused and disciplined. 10. Teaching others The most inherent trait about the human species is that we are smart trainers. Mankind’s ability to set and achieve goals in the way of discoveries and inventions has indeed set us apart from all other species on this planet. Our high intelligence enables us to teach our fellow man successful and proven methods packed with detailed information for achieving desired results for almost any goal we set our minds to.
