Hey FACEBOOK FRIENDS, just sitting here talking with a flag football friend on facebook about God and life and these thoughts came to my mind and I wanted to share them with you!!! TOBY MAC AND WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT FORGIVENESS Toby Mac did a great job with this song. Its great to see songs like this in our popular culture, I just wish there were more of them. He sings of forgiveness, one of the most amazing words in this world, probably with more life changing effects than any other single word that the Bible teaches about except Love. You can go and play it like youre all rock and roll But guilt does a job on each and every mans soul And when your head hits the pillow at the nightfall You can bet your life that its gonna be a fight yall Its an amazing song but its important to think of the other side of this coin!!! When someone forgives us its great, but when we forgive others its POWERFUL!! When someone forgives you it helps you, but when you forgive someone else it helps YOU and THEM!! I teach my kids that forgiveness is like one present that you give to two people at once; yourself and the person you need to forgive. Is there someone from your past that you are not forgiving? You would be shocked to know whats really in your subconscious. I pray that you will know the people that you need to forgive and that God will reach down and break the bitterness dam in your body that is getting in the way of the life He has for you. Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. These are the things that should be flowing through you - I pray that the anger, rage, bitterness, vindictiveness, hurt and other things in your dam will break free and let these fruits flow through. Pray this short prayer - Father, help me understand who I need to forgive to help break these chains. Amen. Once God answers your prayer, pray that He will help you forgive them and then pray for that person yourself. I believe that we can kid ourselves sometimes and think we are forgiving them; if you take it one step further and pray for them, you are not only doing what God tells you to do but it could make all the difference in moving on and forgiving them for good.
