Hey MBS Listeners - Caroline here! If you listened to Episode 49, - TopicsExpress

Hey MBS Listeners - Caroline here! If you listened to Episode 49, you know this already, but here it is for those that dont: I got back from my 4-week stay in the Philippines about a week ago. During my time there, Typhoon Glenda happened. I slept through a night of pouring right and very, very harsh winds. Thankfully, my family was safe throughout the night; other areas, not so much. While the magnitude and damage of Glenda was no where near to Haiyan in 2013, damage was done: $200 million Philippine pesos in damage (USD$ 4 million; consider most Filipinos make roughly $2-8 per day, majority on the lower end...) Many livelihoods, especially of those farmers, were destroyed, as well as their homes. Where I stayed, the damage was not so severe, but it took 8 days for power to return, other areas by then still didnt have any power. We at MBS love supporting Kickstarters and other cool things -- if you have $10 to spare to back something, please consider donating to the Philippines to help with damage and recovery from the damage of the various typhoons (theres even still some lingering damage from Haiyan). One link is directly to information to the Philippine Red Cross. The other is Unicef, specifically their Typhoon Haiyan donation page, which is still up. Also, feel free to donate to the organization of your choice. Red Cross: redcross.org.ph/get-involved/donate-now Unicef: unicefusa.org/mission/emergencies/hurricanes/2013-philippines-typhoon-haiyan Maraming salamat! Caroline PS, Attached is a short clip from my phone while driving through the area the day after the storm. This is near Victoria and Pila, Laguna - one of the areas hit, but not terribly so. This is the extent of the damage here, but other areas were hit much worse.
