Hey NMC - so i posted earlier this week on false teachers and as i have never actually preached on this subject, it has me very intrigued. Paul said to Timothy we are living in the last days and perilous times. That is pretty strong. There have been bad times before. in fact, in the old testament, there were times when everyone did what was right in their own eyes... i wonder why sometimes relationships can be difficult and then as we connect the last days to the depravity of humanity in 2 Timothy 3:2-5 we see why. the sad thing is that it is not only in the world but within the church. people with a form of godliness who are nothing more than troublemakers, driven by self, pride and arrogance...always unforgiving and always looking for a fight. these are more signs of a false teacher than someone who we may classically think of a TV evangelist...looks are deceiving...anyways, we combat this in three ways: 1. Knowing personally Gods Word (2 Timothy 3:14-17) - know it ourselves dont rely upon others 2. Being ready and equipped - Ephesians 6 tells us to be prepared and the battle is here 3. Being unified - Satans weapon is disunity in the body and Paul told Timothy to have nothing to do with and to avoid such people..tough words but so true...
