Hey People!!! Tomorrow we have a really important film screening tomorrow at the Carnegie Library in Homewood from 8-9:30pm. Free Film Screening: Difficult Love (2010) By Zanele Muholi and Peter Goldsmid Friday, September 27, 2013 8-9:30pm, Discussion Following Homewood Carnegie Library, 7101 Hamilton Ave, Pgh, PA 15208 Difficult Love is a thought-provoking and poignant documentary about the political and violent environment facing lesbians in South Africa today. Through interviews, the film examines difficult topics including “curative” rape, family relationships, and loss of life. In the film, Muholi shares her own stories of life as a visual activist. Following the screening, Bekezela Mguni from New Voices Pittsburgh: Women of Color for Reproductive Justice and Ayanah Moor, Associate Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University, will lead a discussion. All screening attendees will receive one free pass to the 2013 Carnegie International at Carnegie Museum of Art in Oakland where Muholi’s photographs will be on view beginning October 5, 2013. Difficult Love has been shown world-wide and has won numerous awards including Best Short Film, Africa in the Picture Film Festival (Netherlands, 2011) and Best Documentary, Durban Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (South Africa, 2011).
