Hey everyone! Here are the bullet points for successful goal setting that I mention in my upcoming podcast ; 1.Establish what goals you want to achieve. 2. As a guide, think about the following categories of goals.. Spiritual,Emotional, Physical...health, relationships, personal growth, travel, general well being, new interests, following our dreams, enhancing the quality of the roles we have in life.. being a better mother/father..son/daughter..brother/sister..partner...friend. 3.After you`ve listed each goal, write a paragraph stating compelling, inspiring, passionate reasons why you want to achieve that outcome. Engage as many of your senses as possible when reading your goals, to bring them to life .. emotion creates motion. 4.There are two types of goals.. daily improvement goals and goals with a timeframe. Set an exact deadline for goals that are to be completed over a period of time, stating the year, month and date. 5. Set three types of timeframe goals.. short term (within a year or less), mid term goals (in three years) and long time goals (in five years,or even ten years). For the long term goals, they should be split up into incremental , achievable chunks, so work out the mid term and short term stepping stone goals that are part of your journey to complete your long term goals. 6.Analyse your beliefs..make sure that deep down, you feel you deserve the outcome of your goal. When your beliefs are a match to your goal, success is a matter of focus and repeated action 7.Write down a list of an immediate action for every goal..Every journey needs a M.A.P.. A Massive Action Plan ( credit to Tony Robbins for the acronym) What action can you can take to bring your goal one step closer to completion? When you have completed that step, immediately replace it by writing down the next incremental step. Repeat this process until you`ve completed your goal. 8.Write down for each goal, how you`ll gauge when you`ve completed it. So, if you have a target weight you want to reach, write that down, weigh yourself now, work out how much you need to lose over what amount of time, and write down the intervals of time that you`ll be weighing yourself, and what weight you will need to be at each stage to make sure you`re on target. 9.Have the objective awareness to look at your actions towards attaining your goal, and if you`re not progressing, change your approach. This can be more difficult than it sounds, as ego gets involved and sometimes people get attached to the idea of being right, instead of bypassing that whole concept and looking at what best serves us. Dr Paul Dobransky talks about his idea of Observing Ego..stepping outside of ourselves and making a non emotional decision based on what`s in our best interest. 10.Write down the additional skills and knowledge you will need to cultivate in order to achieve each goal 11.Who will you need to help you complete your goals? Whether it be a teacher, a coach, a mentor or maybe a friend .. I hope this helps!!
