Hey everyone, wed like to clarify a few things about our Microban Dirty Bathroom Photo Contest. This promotion was designed and run by Microban Products Company. Contrary to what others have posted here, our Sponsors had no formal involvement, other than providing very generous prizes. This was our first time running a social media contest where our loyal fans voted for the winners. Unfortunately, there was some fraudulent voting behavior (vote-trading, multiple profiles that individuals decided to create to generate votes, and so on) that had an impact on the integrity of the contest. Feeling this wasn’t fair to the participants, we decided to stand up and act to preserve the integrity of the promotion. Our Rules, as originally written, drew a line that made vote-trading a violation. The small rules revision we made – adding one sentence – was done to remove any doubt that vote-trading ran counter to the best interests of the contest and was not permitted. Unfortunately, identifying fraudulent voting behavior isn’t a simple task. It required extensive research on our end, and we only have access to so much information. When we realized that some cheating couldn’t be stopped, we decided to step in and make a change. This change was a difficult decision for us – we’d always wanted the contest winners to be selected by The People, not by us. But fairness demanded that something be done, so we picked a method that injected us into the selection process only halfway and left half to the public. All decisions are final. Again, we thank the honest fans for their participation, help and understanding. We’re also grateful for all the feedback we’ve received from everyone -- it has been a learning experience!
