Hey folks, Question about this Quilt Kit instruction, where it - TopicsExpress

Hey folks, Question about this Quilt Kit instruction, where it wants me to mark where seams would line up in the blocks I would attach. Now....I UNDERSTAND exactly what it wants me to do. My question is: why? Other than making sure the MIDDLE lines up (which I get), I dont understand why I should mark 3, 6 or 12 spots. This is (aside from the middle seam) one loooong piece of fabric. No seams to match...no design to try to make sense of. Why should I sew a potential little bunchy piece in this...when all I have to do is carefully pin and sew it on? The strip is too long...so there is no problem with it not fitting. So....why?
