Hey gang....below, please find an e-mail I just sent to Mayor Jeff and the Batavia Group Hug Team. I want you all to know how much I appreciate all of your friendship and support. Lets consider this a teenie-weenie little hiccup in our attempt to break a World Record here in Batavia. More to come....... Have a safe and fantabulous summer. You deserve it!! Well be talking soon.......I promise. I absolutely love you guys. Randy Hello there. I hope everyone is doing well and summer is off to a great start. After exhaustive consideration, Ive decided to postpone/cancel the Group Hug. Due to multiple constraints (time, sponsorship, volunteers, finances, time, time, time...), it would be near impossible to safely break the record, with only 3 months of production time remaining. Id truly need a small, fulltime team to accomplish our goal. With the world watching, theres nothing that would break my heart more than a failed attempt for Batavia.....or worse yet, some unknown obstacle that puts our friends and neighbors in harms way. With that said, Im not giving up so easily....as you might imagine;-) Theres definitely a world record(s) in our future. Im just not sure what it is or when it will take place, but its top-of-mind and I remain as excited as I was when the Hug was first discussed, almost a year ago. I cant thank you enough for your kindness, open-mindedness and positive attitudes. Selfishly, the best part of this experience for me is all of the new friends and neighbors Ive been so lucky to meet. I absolutely love this town and am so very proud to be part of what we call home.
