Hey guys, Mark here! As far as Im concerned if youre following this page youre a part of the PA Bowhunting team. I want to try something a little bit different here. Heres what Im thinking...polling a large number of people is an extremely efficient way to find a correct answer to a question, so polling a large number of bowhunters would probably be a great way of finding ideal stand locations on a property. I just so happen to have access to 10K PA Bowhunters! None of us are professionals here, but through this page we can definitely make each other better! I can learn from you and hopefully you can learn from me! So heres what Ive got for you...This past turkey season I was granted permission to hunt a new property. Ive scouted it all throughout turkey season and think Ive got a somewhat decent handle of the deer movement, but I want your opinion. Well start with a small section where I am going to be planting a food plot and well move to other pieces of the property in future posts..depending on the response we get. The plot is the green triangle labeled A. (P is where I park.) Deer trails Ive found are the red lines, the creek is blue, the pipeline is green (well get to that later) and the yellow is my boundary. Ive noticed the deer tend to parallel the creek on both sides. Also remember that the top of the picture is East, and the left side of the picture is North. To the East of the creek is a large hemlock forest. The West of the creek is a narrow hillside, very thick, with white birch scattered in there. There are several wild apple trees on the hillside as well and some wild blueberry bushes. The creek is at the bottom of a small valley. The valley is about 250 yards from one side to the other. The plot is 75 yards long and about 40 yards wide. Right where the one deer trail hits the A on the map, the hill is extremely steep. The hill plateaus along the edge of the field (9 Oclock of the A) and there is a really worn out deer trail that parallels that field edge. From the edge of the field to the steep drop off is only about 15 yards. Im liking that area a lot. Theyve only got that 15 yard strip to walk along the edge of that field, then it drops off to the creek. Im thinking I like A though, because that trail along the edge of the field drops down the hill and intersects with a trail that parallels the creek and is also extremely well traveled. I put a mineral site at that intersection and currently have a camera on it, so Ill be posting those pics whenever I get around to checking it. (Probably within the next few days) The picture I have is a few years old, so the landscape now is slightly different (new pipeline, food plot clearing...etc.) So what Im asking, is give me your opinion. Maybe youll see something Im not seeing! Any advice is much appreciated! I also will be posting some videos of the landscape to give you guys a better idea of the land. Also just to get you guys excited...I attached a still-shot from a video of a couple buck I filmed while turkey hunting this year (the one in the front definitely has potential!) Help me harvest a buck this year! Lets hear what you got PA Bowhunters!
