Hey guys! Operation Diabetes has partnered with the American Diabetes Association and Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes to host our first annual Race For Control: 5K & Fitness Festival. The event will be located at Lynn Eusan Park at the University of Houston in Houston, TX on August 30, 2014 starting at 9:00 AM. The event is free to all participants who wish to partake in the 5K race, Family Fun Mile or who wish to just attend the Fitness Festival. The Fitness Festival will include raffle prizes to raise money for the ADA, free face painting for kids, a host of vendors offering services that promote diabetes awareness and self-care, and free health screenings such as cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetic foot exams, dental exams, BMI, optometry exams, and blood glucose screenings. Most of our vendors will be passing out freebies! We will also have booths set up that will counsel on diabetes management, diabetes medication questions and prevention techniques.
