Hey, seeing as the NHS workers are on strike again soon, and we - TopicsExpress

Hey, seeing as the NHS workers are on strike again soon, and we were a bit devoid of chant and song last time, Ive been recalling some easy tunes and writing some stuff. You had a great turnout and I reckon at least some of you will be familiar with the Red tradition of songs. Which Side Are You On? was originally an American song supporting a miners strike in the 30s. Listen to a very folky Pete Seeger version here: https://youtube/watch?v=5iAIM02kv0g Or the rocky Dropkick Murphys version: https://youtube/watch?v=6AI0agUKkQw My new lyrics are thus: Come all you health workers! You women and you men!* They’re coming for our wages So we’re out on strike again. They say it’s good for patients - They’re liars or they’re fools! ‘Cause when they come for nurses* The nurses will down tools! My family’s in the union, My friends are in it too. We have to fight for what is right, Or else they’ll come for you! Staff cuts and wage freezes, Overworked and underpaid The NHS will not be safe With all the cuts they’ve made. The MPs and the bosses Won’t work for what we get Give them less than 1% And see what happens then I want a well-paid midwife! I want a happy nurse! I don’t want private profit Coming from the public purse. *If anyone can think of a more gender neutral lyric that would be great, you can swap nurses for midwives, porters, etc. Any more contributions?
