Hey teens, hope you are having a good week so far. This week I ask that each of you be in prayer for our family, Jeanne’s grandmother passed away on Tuesday. She was a great lady, a devout Christian and I know that we will see her again someday. Throughout our lives we will all face the obstacle of losing a loved one, this is a fact. Anything that lives will eventually die, this is for certain. When a loved one dies, usually our first emotional reaction is sadness, sorrow, and grief. Why do we grieve? I believe the main reason is because we will miss that person and have the feeling of never being able to see them again. Is it ok to cry over a loved one? Absolutely. Sometimes we withdraw from others to gather our thoughts and feelings, when we do this we should also take this time to pray. When Jesus learned of John the Baptist’s death, He withdrew from the disciples and the crowds in order to be alone. (Matthew 14:13) I believe He did this to mourn John’s death and to pray about it. I believe Jesus was sad over the death of His cousin John, although he was God he was also fully man. He experienced the same emotional feelings of man. I also believe that after His time of mourning, He rejoiced, because He knew that John was with God. As Christians, after mourning we should rejoice for our Christian loved one’s that have passed away. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5: 6-8: So, we are always confident and know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight, 8 and we are confident and satisfied to be out of the body and at home with the Lord. We should conclude that our sorrows at the death of a believer are joyful sorrows, and our rejoicing at the death of a believer is a sorrowful rejoicing. There is nothing hopeless about the sorrow. And there is nothing superficial about the joy. The joy hurts. And the sorrow is softened with invincible hope. That is why it is so important for us, being the body of Christ, to share the gospel with others. So that they might receive the same grace, mercy, and eternal salvation that assures us all of our place with God in heaven. When a Christian passes away we should rejoice, for they are not dead, but more alive than ever…Love you all and praying for you daily. Read your Bible. 2 Corinthians 5: 7-8 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight, 8 and we are confident and satisfied to be out of the body and at home with the Lord.
