Hi All, most of you will know that I run Sarnia Guinea Pig Rescue. Following on from a recent post from a breeder of guinea pigs who stated he would rather destroy his animals than send them to me because apparently we sell guinea pigs to the pet shops in Guernsey. TO MAKE HIS VERY CLEAR AND TRANSPARENT We DO NOT sell animals to pet shops. We work along side The Pet Cabin who allow us to use a few of their cages for the adoption of some of our younger guinea pigs that would make suitable pets. The guinea pigs remain under the control of Sarnia Guinea Pig Rescue and we receive 100% of the donation, we also have the final say on the new homes. The pet cabin pays for all feed and vet costs whilst the piggies are with them. This idea, is used in the UK with the biggest pet shop chain and the RSCPA. It saves The Pet Cabin from buying in stock from the UK or breeders who constantly pump out babies to fuel the pet trade and add to the current boom in unwanted guinea pigs and rabbits. Maybe breeders like the person who constantly criticises our work should actually come and speak to us and get their facts right before bad mouthing us. I work tirelessly to improve the welfare of guinea pigs in Guernsey. If I find out that the animals mentioned in his post have been destroyed I will be reporting him to the relevant authorities and the States Vet,
