Hi Everyone, I wanted to take a minute and set a few things - TopicsExpress

Hi Everyone, I wanted to take a minute and set a few things straight for what I know about the injured pole vaulter in our area. 1. The accident was at a nearby school in the area where we compete. This did not happen at our high school here where we coach. People are thinking that this one of our high school vaulters. 2. The injury happened to a two-year college student that was helping out at the school during spring break. (He graduated high school at Vista Murrieta two years ago) 3. Colin goes to college at CSU Long Beach, here in California. 4. From what I know, Colin took a jump and went too deep, bounced off the back of the pit and landed on the ground. 5. The picture that you see of him on the donation site was from a few years ago and not a recent image or an image from that day. 6. No idea what pole he was using, pit he landed on, or anything more than that. Im writing this because hearsay can really mess up a great sport. Rumors are rumors and unless you hear it from someone that was there or first hand, then it is most likely incorrect. This is the information from his family and their donation site. On March 31st, my brother, Colin Cassady, was in a very serious Pole Vaulting accident, with a severe brain injury, skull fracture and lung contusion. This morning, April 1st, he underwent surgery, and is still unconscious and unresponsive. Doctors are monitoring the pressure in his head after removing the right side of his skull, placing it into his abdomen for safe keeping until they can replace it in approximately 2 months. Doctors anticipate a 2 week hospital stay in ICU. Our family is so fortunate to have a wonderful support group of family and friends. Colin must be in at least 100 prayer circles around the world. The ICU family waiting room has been almost full for the past 24 hours with our awesome friends and family in support of his surgery and recovery. Unfortunately this type of injury and treatment is costly. While the ICU does not allow flowers, we humbly request a donation in honor of Colin to cover his current and future medical costs. Any amount is appreciated and gratefully accepted. From our family to yours, God Bless. UPDATE: Right now Colin has a 100.3 fever. They... UPDATE: Right now Colin has a 100.3 fever. They are watching it and are going to give him some Tylenol. He is the first on the list to be seen by the nutritionist here. Since he was admitted Monday, he hasnt been able to eat anything or get any food into his system because of medications, surgery, and his critical condition. He has lost four pounds but is finally going to get some food into his system hopefully within the next 15 minutes. We have Ron Pope Radio turned on for him and playing to keep the mood light and relaxed so his blood pressure and inter cranial pressure stays down. You can donate for the help and wellness of this fine young man by going here. You can also read some stories and get updates on his condition. gofundme/7zcrmk
