Hi Everyone! Just want to keep you updated on what is going on with the District IB proposal and Edgemont Junior High after the meeting last Wednesday. Please see the attached link to the district website and announcement. I received a phone call from a voter yesterday very concerned about this process, about how the meeting went and how this update from the District comes across. He doesnt think that this new information is the same as the information given on Wednesday. This leads to mistrust and skepticism. I also attended the meeting and have to agree with him that the parents definitely did not come away with what is proposed below. I have to hope that after the reception the district got that they went back to the drawing board to either revamp their proposal or revamp their messaging. I think they heard the parents of Edgewood! I must say I like this current outline much better, especially all of the meetings that they have set up to meet with more families. It does sound to me like this is what the district wants to do and it will be up to the school board to make the final decision. That is why THIS ELECTION IS SO IMPORTANT. If elected, I will be there to serve you and your input will rank highest in any decisions I make. The way the district is describing the program now leads me to believe this could work for Puyallup but we must make sure that it works for our communities and ALL of our children. Our school board directors must get involved and they should be attending these types of community meetings so they understand the families they represent. I was glad to see Pat Donovan last Wednesday and I hope that the rest of the board will participate in the future. You know, I will be there to get your input first hand!
