Hi Friends, I thought I would do something a little different. I want to showcase an awesome narrative that Gail just finished. However, I am not going to share the entire story at one time. Instead, I will post the story in parts. Each day, reread the old post and then continue the reading.....(hope you like it as much as I do) My mom was a bit superstitious. She thought the endless chanting of the whip-o-will could be silenced by tying a knot in the bed sheets. She also associated owls with death. Now that she has passed, my sisters and I think of Mama every time we see or hear an owl. My most meaningful encounter with owls was recently in the Grand Tetons. It’s no stretch to say that the beauty of the Teton Mountains is simply indescribable. Sitting at the feet of the peaks known as the Cathedral Group is The Chapel of the Transfiguration. This small chapel seems to beckon all visitors to come. Even though the hike was two miles out in very deep snow, Marilyn and I wanted to return to this sacred place on Christmas day to read aloud our book, Running for Home. The book, inspired by a John Denver song, is about restoring the gray wolf to Yellowstone. As Marilyn tested the snow depth, I could tell from the disappointed look on her face that we would not make it to the chapel on this glorious day. “It’s the Teton’s”, I say, “We will find another special place.” (see the next post for more of the story)
