Hi Glacier Park Ptsa Possible Fund Raising Effort: As some of you may know we Knudsens Do Up Halloween to a different level than most. It is all Disney based and intended for the younger kids to enjoy. Each year we pick one of the schools to receive any financial donations we receive which typically range in the 1 to 2k range. Last year we raised just over $1,700 for TMS/PTA. At the same time we gather hundreds of pounds of food for the food bank. This year our son Jacob is in first grade at Glacier Park and we have cycled back to Glacier as the beneficiary. The reason we are writing to this group is first to Thank all of the current and past PTSA volunteers for helping our childrens experience as they have progressed through Glacier Park. Most pointedly however we are writing with the hopes we can get some discussion going on how we might make that donation amount go way up without being too blatant, not that blatant is bad if done right..... We are not good at instigating or gathering donations and unfortunately we dont have time to dedicate to direct this possible effort so I hoped maybe some of you do and you could put together some ideas on how we can glean more out of this for the school. So to focus that effort and clarify the problem here is what I see as the downfall: Historically we intentionally havent made the Donation Station very obvious because we dont want people to feel like they cant come visit without donating. See Picture. Besides the lack of instant visibility Halloween night, the biggest issue is the obvious fact that many people dont come Trick or Treating with their wallets or canned food... and therefore even if they otherwise would have donated they cant. Is there a better way to get that word out there in a way it gets to the local community only, NO televised news please. Possibly people would donate more if there was a donation slip to send in checks? We did wrap over 1,000 full sized candy bars with donations request slips 3 years ago asking people to send checks directly to the school and we didnt get feedback from the school so we have no idea if that helped. On occasion people see the small sign on Mr Jack Skellingtons donation station that directs them to put their donation in the not so Hidden Mickey hole in the coffin and come back the following day to donate. ;-) Here is a link to see the 2013 display. We hope for some feedback and hope to see all of you there Halloween Night! youtube/watch?v=BVdEhJAcfUw
