Hi, I rescued a 3 year old girl shih-tzu from a lady who could not cope with her after having her for two years! I have cared for her for the last 4 years and she is a wonderful and good pup, despite her start! When I first got her, she had not been walked, she didnt know how to play or know any commands, she was matted , unspayed and has detached retinas from what we assume was abuse, when with first owners as a baby , so is virtually blind! Now, whilst she is very clever and happy and totally human soppy , she is extremely aggressive to other dogs and will bark at the sound of other dogs on Tv incessantly! I realise that being partially blind makes her anxious, and aggression whilst tail wagging when confronted with another animal, is probably par for the course when you cant read other dogs signals, no amount of my calm energy deters her anxiety! Does anyone know how I can ease her anxiety with training? I dont know anyone else with dogs and she isnt trustworthy around strange dogs :( Thanks x
